Wish Upon Glass

Brushing the glitter from our hair
Shaking confetti from our ears
Stardust from our minds
Mopping up the spilled champagne
Spilled words
Overflow of excess and party balloons
Watching the sun rise
With a frosty breeze up our spines
We put on our gloves
Bracing for the chill
Taking the suits to the cleaners
To clear the smoke,
Repair the cinder burns and torn cuffs
Breathing some fresh air into our lungs
We shake off the hangover,
Try to stand up straight,
Slowly remember
How to curve the corners of our lips
In a new direction.
