another market, 2012

passed along and passed on fire
crusty lamp-lit mango man
with wild-eyed freak show stare

saw you looking over habaneros
tortillas
pork chins
and jicama

miles and miles and wacked-out stolen miles
stolen from a place you only felt -
now dream of losing feeling
and the empty, stinging hole
cut right square through your life
cut right square through your lives
and your habaneros, tortillas
and greasy death-fornicated pork chins
and jicama

rue the night, rue the day, rue the miles
the miles you put behind you. rue the life
you cut straight through with that stinging hole.
rue the night, rue the day, rue the miles

passed along and passed on fire
guerrero
michoacan
jalisco
durango
chihuahua
stinking steel to a steel bed;
cold like cold never stung
in an empty stinging hole

and guerrero nights and guerrero days
fell away into that empty stinging hole
at the end of that stinking steel
where you passed along and passed on fire
and now you look at me, mango man
over habaneros and tortillas
pork chins
and jicama
